How to Style a Coffee Table
I love styling coffee tables! Its a small achievable space that makes a big impact in the living room. I want to simplify the process by breaking it down into small components to keep in mind. I’m going to use the word ANCHORS to help simplify how to style a coffee table.
Coffee Table
Coffee tables are one of the main centerpieces to a living room or family room. It’s important to know how to style a coffee table so it can stand out and have some function associated with it.
To style a coffee table, think of the word “ANCHORS“, which stands for:
Assortment: You need a variety of different items so the display looks interesting and appealing to the eye.
Natural Elements: It’s always nice to bring the outdoors into the home and incorporate some natural elements into your design. Using natural elements can be accomplished in many different ways, such as a flower arrangement, a plant, wooden beads, stones and gems.
Candles: There are many different types of candles to choose from! I like to usually use battery operated candles so I don’t need to worry about the flame. When you light the candles, they add a beautiful glow and nice ambience to the room, especially in the evening
Height
Height: Try to make sure you have objects with varying heights. It makes for an interesting table scape rather than having all the items on a single plain.
Organization: When placing the items on the coffee table, make sure it’s not haphazard. Be intentional with the placement of items on the table. You can use the rule of three or just make sure you’re intentional when placing objects, so the overall design looks harmonious. You can also use a grounding object, such as a large tray, dish or slab in order to corral small objects and keep them organized.
Reading: You can use magazines or books on the coffee table to allow people to read something while relaxing in the space
Surprise: Add something different and unexpected to the coffee table. This can be done by adding a personal item or a unique sculptural design that you find interesting. These items can be a great conversation piece.
Finally, make sure the overall design of the coffee table is anchored and works cohesively with the rest of the room. The coffee table is an essential piece of the space and should flow with the color palette and style of the rest of the room.
I hope these tips help you to decorate your coffee table. Remember, these are just guidelines; nothing to take seriously as you can bend and break any the rules. Have fun styling your coffee table.
