Winter Decor 2019
In our home, we enjoy celebrating and decorating for every season. For winter in particular, I like to make a clear distinction between decorating for the season rather than the religious holidays, so that I’m not sending any mixed messages to our children.
Winter Decoration
In our home, we enjoy celebrating and decorating for every season. For winter in particular, I like to make a clear distinction between decorating for the season rather than the religious holidays, so that I’m not sending any mixed messages to our children. These are the boundaries we feel comfortable to implement with our family, but are respectful of what works for others in their homes at the same time. Further, we decorate for all the seasons, thus not making winter stand out for any particular reason.
The first way I like to decorate for winter is to use heavier and thicker fabrics, such as faux fur, heavy wools, and velvet. I will add blankets and throw pillows to sofas, chairs and beds; adding these textures will make the space look warm and cozy.
I like to bring in natural elements into home for our winter decor. Things like pinecones, branches, evergreens bring the outside environment into the house. To complete our decor, we use cotton snowballs and fake snow around the decor.
Winter Decor
A fun activity we like to do as a family is to create a bucket list for the winter. I usually hang this up in the kids play area, and they take down items from the list that we’ve completed. You can activities such as ice skating, skiing, making a snowman and other activities.
We like to incorporate a warm drink station into our decor. Hot chocolate, cappuccino, espresso, coffee and a variety of teas are available to enjoy this time of year.
Finally, I like using different signs with words and phrases that highlight the winter, including some Islamic hadiths and quotes from the Quran.
